The music rooms at St. Michael's College School are literally a symphony of activity, sights, and sounds! They reflect an acclaimed Arts program highlighted by two annual theatrical productions --- Fall drama and a Spring Musical --- involving students from St. Michael's College School and several other schools. In between, there are a host of bands for each grade level that perform at various events including: Homecoming, Open Houses, school masses, the St. Patrick's Day parade, sporting events, to name a few. Jamie Oatt, Department Head of Music (pictured above), leads several experiential learning music trips with students to European countries and the U.S., annually. Volunteer involvement from current parents at Arts events throughout the year is integral in showcasing our talented musicians and performers, while creating friendships and building community.
It is one of the first words that comes to mind when describing St. Michael's College School: community. And it is usually accompanied by descriptors like vibrant, diverse, engaged, active, and dynamic. That's because more than a century and a half of history has been made and is ultimately sustained by each individual who interacts with our school --- student, teacher, staff member, parent, alumnus, donor or friend of SMCS.
Whether volunteering their time, expertise, contacts and network, in the classroom, in the bleachers and stands or the boardroom, our community is the backbone of SMCS, evidenced in the myriad ways it is involved --- and growing each and every day.
